The Gulf Coast Playboys are a Texas-Louisiana style dance band that cover a variety of traditional Cajun, Country, Tex-Mex and Rockabilly music. Based in Austin, Texas,the group features veteran musicians from the "roots" music scene from "the Live Music Capitol of the World": multi-instrumentalists that have been active in music-making for the past 20 years or more! The band can play as a "back porch Cajun band"...trio with accordion, fiddle and guitar. Acoustic upright bass can be added. For a more diverse sound, the band performs as a full electric ensemble with drums, electic guitar/bajo sexto, electric bass, pedal steel, etc. The group also features guest performers to customize the bands' personnel for a particular event theme. In the past, the group has featured special guest performers Rick Broussard, Lazy Lester, Flaco Jimenez, Erik Hokkanen, Max Baca and others.
